It’s July, which means it’s also ice cream month! With that said, here is a lightweight, yet also the deep question that you can write, talk, or think about. Doing this activity can help you know yourself more by giving you an opportunity to describe how your experiences have shaped you into who you are today.
If you were an ice cream flavor, which one would you be and why?
I would be raspberry-coconut ice cream, and here is why. Before my journey in the Blender began, I started off as a coconut. Not very social, hidden in my shell. I had a rough texture, and if you decided to try me, I’d be hard and crunchy, unwilling to put down my walls. For those who chewed a little harder, I’d give in to their kindness and show them my milky, opaque, nutty, and hopefully captivating side - the coconut milk.
Slowly, I began to explore the life around me. I thought I knew myself until I entered a Blender of change, love, and security. I wasn’t just a coconut anymore, but also a cup of beautifully red raspberries and a bit of silky, amber maple syrup. Raspberries, the bittersweet, and strong taste received when I was hurt but still supportive of my people. It wasn’t always a happy journey for me, sometimes I made mistakes, and sometimes it was difficult to move on and see everything in a positive light. It was Raspberries, over the original taste of my creamy coconut milk. Maple syrup, smooth, not too complex but fun and inviting. Blended, I felt indescribable. I felt a sense of belonging in my community and a connection to the outside world that I never had. I entered an ice cream maker, molding myself into the best possible version of me.
I am Raspberry-Coconut Ice Cream, a velvety coconut taste softly wrapped around the flavor of freshly picked raspberries. A rich, creamy berry dessert that melts on the tip of your tongue and cools the length of your throat. Sour-sweet, because both my bad and good experiences have shaped me and have taught me many lessons. It was an inspiring and unforgettable journey to become who I am today, and I am truly proud to be me.
So, which ice cream flavor are you, and why?
